WFE and SQL in different domains?
Working on a new project where the WFE is in the DMZ in one domain, and the SQL backend is in another domain (supported configuration?).

It's working for the most part, but the biggest complaint are credential prompts when trying to open Office documents.

I've added the site to the Intranet/Trusted sites zones and checked the User Authentication is set to auto login with username and password.

I'm checking the AAM setup, but I'm wondering if I need a different AAM for the internal access while the users are onsite?

Any ideas?

It is supported, but I'm not sure of a direct fix.  Is there a reason you don't also have a WFE inside the domain with SQL so that users can stay in the domain when inside the network and only use the DMZ WFE when connecting remotely?

If you put ISA in front of that external WFE, then you can turn on persistent cookies to make Office docs open without prompting while also protecting your WFE (via proxy).
